Applied Christology

This course bridges learned faith and lived faith by rethinking Christology in a new and comprehensive way. The lectures focus on propositional ánd narrative Christology so to be able to learn from experience and tradition.

• 'Totus Christus'
• 'Filioque' issue (pertaining to Spirit-Christology and creation-theology)
• Reconciliation and Christological thinking
• Christ as Word (pertaining to hermeneutics)
• Incarnational theology and the Jewishness of Jesus
• On cultural Christologies

Doel vak: 

1. Students learn to think Christologically within the brands of their own traditions, communities, and within their own daily context
2. They demonstrate insight in the state of the art of the Christological debate here and now
3. They learn to critically formulate their own position, whatever and however this may be
4. Students learn to critically evaluate Christian presence, practices, and teachings from a Christological point of view.
5. They know how to be conversant with modern Christological discussions, its literature, and ecclesial urgencies.

The course can be followed as an elective, or as a part of the master’s study route Evangelical and Baptistic Leadership. The lectures are coordinated, arranged and presented by the Baptist Seminary, In addition to VU students, it is possible that other students (doing a post-graduate study at the Seminary) will follow the course in the same, shared learning environment.
